YBC qualifies trainers in Corporate Governance in Yemen
Yemeni Businessmen Club organized a Training- of- Trainers course on corporate governance at the Taj Sheba Hotel in Sana'a during the period 13 -15 June 2010 for 16 business leaders and academics in collaboration with the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and the IFC.
The coordinator of the corporate governance program at YBC, Ali Azaki, commented to the news agency Saba that the program aims to prepare a cadre of experts on corporate governance to implement trainings and provide direct assistance to companies and institutions in Yemen.
The training session was considered an important step to find local experts in training on governance and to transfer knowledge about the principles and benefits of corporate governance to all concerned parties in Yemen. The project aims to consolidate the principles of separation between ownership and management and enhance transparency in the companies, and other principles that help to create a productive work environment in the private sector.
For the past two years, YBC has cooperated on a project with the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) to promote corporate governance and developed the Guidelines for Corporate Governance in Yemen, which was released on March 29, 2010.
